Rosa Banksiae 'Lutea' is a fast and very fast growing rose that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 8A through 10B. It matures to an average height of 10 feet to 12 feet and an average width of 10 feet to 15 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun or morning sun with afternoon shade and grows best when planted in sand, loam or clay soil that is well drained. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to drought, insects, diseases and heat.
Lady Banks Yellow Rose can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, as a buffer or screen, as a background, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, grown flat against a wall or as a hedge and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, theme gardens or cottage gardens.
The Lady Banks is an old-fashioned thornless climbing rose that explodes in clusters of miniature butter-yellow blossoms in the spring, and it’s what we gardeners call a “vigorous climber.” This means that you want to give this one plenty of room to grow. If planted to closely to the front porch it's possible it might take over your entire house, a slightly overwhelming prospect that is tempered only by the breathtaking display of flowers dripping from the soft, green branches. Simply put, it’s gorgeous, but needs its space.
Plant the Lady Banks Rose in a location that provides well-drained fertile soils rich in organic matter and full sun to morning sun with afternoon shade. Flowering will be best if the plant receives at least 6 hours of sun during the day. It blooms on old wood, so be careful not to over-prune the older branches.
The Lady Banks Rose is low-maintenance when given ample room to grow as it desires. It’s not meant for small spaces and easily grows to 30 feet or more, quickly swallowing sheds, trees, and unaware bystanders in its path. It is the perfect choice to cover large structures such as arbors, tall poles, and even old unsighlty small buildings. It can also be trained to grow against and along the top of sturdy fences and partitions. In large open landscape beds it will form a huge mound.
The Lady Banks Rose is one of the more drought-tolerant and disease-resistant rose species, making it a favorite among gardeners for many generations. If you've got room for this wonderful old favorite plant one!

My rose bush arrived in perfect condition! It is a nice, big, healthy plant and it had blooms on it!
I can't wait for it to flower. The box arrived on it's side - even with a "this side up" all over the box. Thankfully, the packing people put a drawstring bag around the pot and soil...so most of it held together. It lost several leaves during shipping. But has sprung back to life. I have to protect it from the deer, and just planted it in the ground.
This plant arrived well-packed and undamaged, despite the delivery person not paying attention to the instructions on the package about which end was up! The rose is doing well and is thornless as advertised. I'm anxious to see it bloom.
