Additional Information About Sweet Tea Olive

Osmanthus Fragrans 'Fudingzhu' is a slow and moderate growing shrub and tree that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7B through 9B. It matures to an average height of 10 feet to 12 feet and an average width of 6 feet to 8 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the spring, summer and fall Sweet Olive produces white flowers. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought, insects, diseases, mildew and heat. If you like fragrance, Osmanthus Fragrans 'Fudingzhu' has fragrant flowers.

Sweet Olive can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in foundation plantings, as a buffer or screen, in containers or planters, in shrub borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, to frame the corners of a home or other building or grown flat against a wall and also in theme gardens, cottage gardens or perennial gardens.

As the summer months wind down the Sweet Tea Olive springs to life and delivers an incredible blend of snowy white blooms with an unforgettable apricot scent. The Sweet Tea Olive is an evergreen that is heavily branched with dark, glossy green leaves and is perfect when used for hedges and borders, in addition it can easily be trimmed into a tree form.
