Callistemon Citrinus 'Compact Scarlet' is a fast and moderate growing shrub and wild flower that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 8B through 10B. It matures to an average height of 10 feet to 12 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 10 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam or clay soil that is well drained or moderately drained. In the spring and summer Scarlet Compacta Bottlebrush produces red flowers. The foliage is blue green in color. It attracts hummingbirds and is resistant to deer, diseases and heat.
Scarlet Compacta Bottlebrush can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in foundation plantings, as a buffer or screen, as a background, in shrub borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, to frame the corners of a home or other building or grown flat against a wall and also in cottage gardens, butterfly gardens, hummingbird gardens or perennial gardens.
