Symphyotrichum Novae-Angliae 'English Countryside' is a moderate growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 3A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 2 feet to 4 feet and an average width of 2 feet to 4 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade, morning shade with afternoon sun or filtered sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the summer and fall English Countryside Aster produces blue and lavender flowers. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts butterflies and visual attention and is resistant to deer and drought.

English Countryside Aster can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, in shrub borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, in landscape beds or islands or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, cottage gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.
