Sum And Substance Hosta Lily is a fast growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 3A through 9B. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, shade or morning sun with afternoon shade and grows best when planted in loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained or moderately drained. The foliage is chartreuse in color. It attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and visual attention and is resistant to insects and heat. If you like fragrance, Sum And Substance Hosta Lily has fragrant flowers.
Sum And Substance Hosta Lily can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, as an accent, under a shade tree, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, to accentuate entryways or in small groupings and also in theme gardens, cottage gardens or shade gardens.
One of our favorite classic shade perennials, Sum And Substance Hosta Lily forms huge clumps up to 6 feet wide of outstanding golden chartreuse color foliage. The leaves themselves are enormous. Another unique attribute is its sun tolerance - perhaps it should have been named "Sun & Substance"? We've grown this hosta in almost full sun here in Zone 8 of mid-Georgia, and the foliage color becomes more intense with more sun. That being said, some shade during the hottest part of the day will be appreciated.
Gorgeous big leaves!
