Additional Information About Yewtopia Plum Yew

Yewtopia Plum Yew is a moderate growing shrub that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 6A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 3 feet to 4 feet and an average width of 3 feet to 4 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides shade, morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, drought and heat.

Yewtopia Plum Yew can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in foundation plantings, in containers or planters, in shrub borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, under a shade tree, in landscape beds or islands, to accentuate entryways, in small groupings or as a hedge and also in theme gardens or shade gardens.

More About Yewtopia Plum Yew...

Noteworthy Characteristics

Yewtopia Plum Yew, Cephalotxus - the South’s answer to English Yews! With a slightly upright, vase-like growth habit, this plum yew is heat tolerant, drought resistant, shade loving, low maintenance, insect and disease resistant, and deer turn their noses up to it! What more could we ask for in an evergreen shrub? The handsome, dark green, delicate, need-like foliage of Yewtopia provides a unique texture in the garden year round and contrasts nicely with the foliage textures and colors of many other types of plants. It has a vase-shape form that spreads wider than taller.

Uses

Use Yewtopia where low growing natural to formal hedges are needed, as a uniquely textured accent, in mass plantings, under shade trees, on slopes, or in containers. Also nice in foundation plantings and Asian theme gardens.

Culture & Care Tips

Easy to grow, Yewtopia likes a well-drained soil, even bone dry soil is okay when the plants are established. It prefers part sun to shade. Morning sun to shade is perfect. The best time to prune is in early spring before the first flush of new growth.
