It matures to an average height of 40 feet to 50 feet and an average width of 20 feet to 30 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in loam or clay soil that is well drained. It attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and songbirds / birds and is resistant to drought, diseases and heat.

Granny Smith Apple can be useful in the landscape to provide shade or as a street tree and also in cottage gardens or shade gardens.
