Diospyros Kaki 'Hana Fuyu' is a moderate growing tree and fruit bearing plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 6B through 9B. It matures to an average height of 10 feet to 12 feet and an average width of 10 feet to 15 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. The foliage is medium green in color. It attracts wildlife and visual attention and is resistant to drought, insects, diseases and heat.

Hana Fuyu Persimmon can be useful in the landscape in shrub borders, as an accent or in small groupings and also in theme gardens or cottage gardens.

Hana Fuyu is also known as the Giant Fuyu and bears crops of huge reddish-orange, sweet and very tasty non-astringent fruits. This variety also stores very well without loss of flavor and has a very good frost resistance.
