Variegated Creeping Charlie is a popular cascading foliage plant for hanging baskets, the round green leaves are handsomely dappled in creamy white. Spikes of violet-blue flowers appear in spring.
It can also be useful as a lawn substitue and in landscape beds as a groundcover. Just beware that it is a very aggressive creeper with stems that trail along the ground and root along as they go.
We have planted it as a groundcover in some shady, contained areas of our trial gardens and can attest that it is a hardy and aggressive plant that will fill an area quickly. We don't advise using it in landscape beds that are near to lawn areas as the plant might end up taking over your lawn! Just make sure to plant it where you can keep it contained.
It is exceptionally easy to grow in a wide range of soil types and prefer shade to morning sun with afternoon shade.
