Additional Information About Kanjiro Camellia Sasanqua

Camellia Sasanqua 'Kanjiro' is a moderate growing shrub and tree that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7A through 10B. It matures to an average height of 6 feet to 10 feet and an average width of 6 feet to 10 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the fall Kanjiro Camellia Sasanqua produces purple and rose pink flowers. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to heat. If you like fragrance, Camellia Sasanqua 'Kanjiro' has fragrant flowers.

Kanjiro Camellia Sasanqua can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in foundation plantings, as a buffer or screen, as a background, in shrub borders, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, to frame the corners of a home or other building, grown flat against a wall or as a hedge and also in theme gardens or cottage gardens.

More about Kanjiro Camellia...

Noteworthy Characteristics

Kanjiro is a truly stunning camellia! Gorgeous, slightly fragrant, cerise-pink blooms that are edged in red with golden stamens. The plant has a dense semi-weeping habit and glossy, dark green foliage produces an exceptional evergreen for foundation plantings, landscape beds and backgrounds.

Uses

Kanjiro camellia can be useful in the landscape in straight or curved rows to form colorful, evergreen hedges. It can also be "limbed up" to form a very attractive small tree placed in small groupings or as a focal point specimen. It is perfect for use as espalier: trained to grow flat against a wall.

Culture

Camellias prefer a fertile, moist but well-drained, acidic soil. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. Your new camellia should not need regular watering after the first year unless there are extended periods of dry weather during summer. Camellias do best in partial shade or filtered sun. Avoid afternoon direct sun
