Additional Information About New Gold Hardy Lantana

New Gold Lantana is a moderate growing perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 8A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 foot to 2 feet and an average width of 2 feet to 3 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. It attracts butterflies and hummingbirds and is resistant to deer, drought, insects and diseases.

New Gold Lantana can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas or as a groundcover and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, cottage gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.

More about New Gold Hardy Lantana...

Noteworthy Characteristics

Just because it says "hardy" doesn't mean it's hardy everywhere. That being said, New Gold Lantana is hardy further north than most Lantana varieties we've tried. For over a decade it's been a very reliable perennial in our gardens here in central Georgia (USDA Zone 8a)...and we think it might be hardy as far north as zone 7a or 7b. New Gold is a low growing, sprawing perennial or annual shrub that produces an abundance of bright golden-yellow flower clusters that throughout the warm season. The flowers of this plant are very attractive to both hummingbirds and butterflies and deer won't touch it! New Gold grows to a height of  about 15 inches tall with a spread of about 24 to 36 inches wide. When established the plants are very drought tolerant!

Uses

Where hardy outdoors year round, New Gold Lantana is useful in groupings, in mass or as a border along paths, or in containers. Where not winter hardy, it can be used outdoors as an annual in seasonal color flowerbeds or as a container plant.
