Additional Information About Ajuga Burgundy Glow Bugleweed

Ajuga Reptans 'Burgandy Glow' is a moderate growing groundcover plant and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 3A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 1 foot to 3 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, shade, morning sun with afternoon shade, morning shade with afternoon sun or filtered sun and grows best when planted in loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained or moderately drained. In the spring Burgandy Glow Ajuga produces blue flowers. The foliage is burgundy, white, pink and dark green in color. It attracts visual attention and is resistant to deer, insects, diseases, mildew and heat.

Burgandy Glow Ajuga can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, as a groundcover, between stepping stones and pavers, in landscape beds or islands or in medians and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, theme gardens, cottage gardens or perennial gardens.

More about Burgundy Glow Ajuga...

The dense, rapidly spreading, low rosettes of variegated leaves Burgundy Glow Ajuga contrast nicely with other plants in shady to partially shaded areas of the garden. We use it primarily as a groundcover or underplanting for shrubs and other plants. The spikes of violet color flowers that rise above the foliage in spring are an extra-added bonus. One of if not the best performing Ajuga in our gardens.

Burgundy Glow is easy to grow in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade, but is tolerant drought and poor soils. Constantly wet or soggy soils can cause rot of roots and plants. In hotter climates some afternoon shade might be appreciated.

Easy to maintain, plants may be mowed on high setting after blooming in order to remove spent flower spikes and to tidy the appearance of the planting.
