Prunus X Yedoensis 'Somei-Yoshino' is a fast growing tree that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5A through 9A. It matures to an average height of 12 feet to 20 feet and an average width of 15 feet to 20 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in loam or clay soil that is well drained. In the spring Yoshino Cherry produces white and light pink flowers. The foliage is light green, medium green and dark green in color. It attracts wildlife, visual attention and songbirds / birds and is resistant to insects, diseases, mildew and heat. If you like fragrance, Prunus X Yedoensis 'Somei-Yoshino' has fragrant flowers.

Yoshino Cherry can be useful in the landscape as a background, as an accent, as a focal point, to add property value, in small groupings or as a street tree and also in theme gardens or cottage gardens.
