Betula Nigra 'Dura-Heat' is a moderate growing tree that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 9B. It matures to an average height of 40 feet to 50 feet and an average width of 20 feet to 30 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. The foliage is yellow and medium green in color. It attracts wildlife, visual attention and songbirds / birds and is resistant to insects, diseases and heat.

Dura-Heat River Birch can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, as an accent, to provide shade, as a focal point, in landscape beds or islands, to add property value, to accentuate entryways or in small groupings and also in cottage gardens, perennial gardens or shade gardens.
