More about Knaphill Red Native Azalea...

Noteworthy Characteristics

Knaphill Red Azalea flowers are big and showy. Each individual fiery red flower is typically open and wide, averaging 2 to 3 inches, but they come in trusses made up of many individual flowers. So the trusses are huge!  Knaphill Red grows to be about 8 feet tall by 6 feet across in 15 years without pruning.

Uses

Plant as a single specimen, in groupings, flowering shrub borders, mass plantings, home foundation plantings, along a woodland border or in shade gardens, container gardens, wildlife gardens and cottage gardens.

Culture & Care Tips

Native azaleas prefer an acid (4.5 to 5.5), well-drained, moist but not wet, soil rich in organic matter, such as natural leaf mold, mushroom compost, composted cowe manure, or your own homemade compost. All day dappled shade or morning sun with afternoon shade is preferable. As the plant is establishing itself during the first year after planting make sure to provide water during times of summer drought.
