Peach Poodle Tail Hibiscus is an old collector's favorite heirloom tropical hibiscus that produces an unusual double flower that has another smaller doubled flower that hangs from it. The main body of the bloom is a dense double with an interesting tuft of triple layered petals that wrap the stamen and hang from the center of the main body of the bloom. The unique flowers are prolifically born on a strong, sturdy bush with a vigorous upright growth habit. The leaves are dark green with dark burgundy veins and sharply serrated edges. The plant has a high degree of disease resistance and is drought tolerant and long lived. It is often found growing wild on abandoned lots and homesteads across the Deep South.
Uses
Where hardy outdoors, Peach Poodle Tail Hibiscus is useful as a colorful accent or specimen shrub or small tree to highlight entryways, as a hedge, espalier to cover bare walls such as the spaces between windows, or in containers. Where not winter hardy, it can be used outdoors as an annual in beds or as a container plant that can be overwintered indoors or in a greenhouse when low temperatures drop below 55 degrees.
