    More About Gold Child Ivy...

Gold Child is a very nice and attractive form of ivy that is similar to English but with a much more moderate growth rate and gorgeous golden-yellow margins. In hot summer sun the margins may fade to a creamy white. If a more gold color is desired plant it in an area protected from the hot summer afternoon sun.

Gold Child Ivy is very easy to grow and will tolerate a wide range of soils and growing conditions. It prefers a rich, well-drained soil with consistent moisture however will tolerate dry conditions once established. Consistently soggy or wet soils can cause root rot and other diseases. Any time of year you can trim to shape when and if the plant grows out of bounds and tie in to encourage climbing up trellises. It will survive heavy shade or full sun, however prefers some afternoon shade in hotter climates.

Because of its slower and less invasive habit, Gold Child Ivy is great for growing as an evergreen groundcover in smaller landscape beds or to climb or cascade over walls or trellis, where it can provide an attractive all year foliage cover. It is most commonly used as a ground cover, where the lush leaves steal the show underneath trees or growing up their trunks, but is equally as useful in containers and hanging baskets where it will add color and spill over the edges of pots. Gold Child Ivy can be used indoors as a houseplant.
