Additional Information About Bronze Dutch Clover

Trifolium Repens Var Atropurpureum 'Bronze Dutch Clover' is a moderate growing groundcover plant and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 4A through 8B. It matures to an average height of 1 inch to 1 foot and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained or moderately drained. The foliage is burgundy and medium green in color.

Bronze Dutch Clover can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, under a shade tree, as a groundcover, in hanging baskets, in landscape beds or islands or for erosion control and also in theme gardens, cottage gardens, perennial gardens or shade gardens.

More About Bronze Dutch Clover...

One from out 'Toe Tickler' collection, Bronze Dutch Clover is a vigorous, creeping groundcover with deeply divided, reddish-bronze leaves edged in green. White clover-like pom-pom flowers adorn and rise above the foliage in summer.

Bronze Dutch Clover is valuable in hot, dry areas for erosion control on slopes or in a woodland setting where nothing else will grow. It will do tremendously well draping over a retaining wall, edging a pond or surrounding ferns, hostas and other shade-loving plants in your shade garden.

Bronze Dutch Clover is easy to grow with the right conditions. Well-drained, dry to lightly moist soils and full sun to partial shade. In hot southern climates some afternoon shade is appreciated. The foliage color will vary depending on the amount of sunlight received being more red with more sun and more green with more shade. Constantly wet or soggy soil is a killer.

Bronze Dutch Clover is very useful as a groundcover in and around patios, along pathways as a border, around ponds, and in partially shaded rock gardens. It  also looks terrific in a container over top of flower bulbs.
