More About Moudry Black Fountain Grass...

Moudry Pennisetum is an ornamental fountain grass that produces showy, bottlebrush-like, dark purplish-black flower spikes which arch outward from the clump in late summer like water spraying from a fountain. The grass is tuft forming and graceful to 2 to 3 feet height with a spread of up to 3 feet. Glossy foliage is flat, narrow and deep green in summer, warming to a golden hue in the fall. A versatile perennial grass that provides an instant kick to shrub borders, group or mass plantings, and also adds texture to rock gardens.

Moudry Pennisetum is exceptionally easy to grow and maintain and, unlike it's tender cousin, Pennisetum rubrum, is frost hardy. It will grow in average, medium to wet soils in full sun to part shade but is best in full sun. It will tolerate part shade, but may not flower with too much shade. Cut foliage to the ground in late winter before new shoots appear.
