Lantana Camara 'Sunset Orange' is a fast growing annual bedding and perennial plant that can be grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 7B through 11. It matures to an average height of 2 feet to 3 feet and an average width of 2 feet to 4 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained. In the summer and fall Sunset Orange Lantana produces orange and bright orange flowers. The foliage is dark green in color. It attracts butterflies and hummingbirds and is resistant to deer, drought and heat.

Sunset Orange Lantana can be useful in the landscape in mass plantings, in containers or planters, in landscape beds or islands, in small groupings or in annual flower beds and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, cottage gardens, butterfly gardens, hummingbird gardens or perennial gardens.

A new and distinct cultivar of Lantana, ‘Sunset Orange’is characterized by its low growing, mounding to spreading growth habit, leathery dark green foliage, and continuous production throughout the warm season of pretty, light orange flower buds that open to light orange flowers which age to a vibrant dark orange. 'Sunset Orange' came from a cross between Lantana sp. 'Chapel Hill Gold' and an unnamed Lantana camara. Has demonstrated very good cold hardiness in USDA Zones 8a and south but we've heard that it is hardy in 7b.

IMPORTANT CARE TIP!!! DO NOT PRUNE LANTANA IN THE FALL as this will ensure death of the plant! Wait until new growth begins to emerge in spring to remove dead stems. A mid-summer shearing to remove seedheads is okay.
