Additional Information About African Butterfly Iris

It matures to an average height of 2 feet to 3 feet and an average width of 1 foot to 2 feet, depending on climate and other environmental factors. It prefers growing in a location that provides full sun, morning sun with afternoon shade or morning shade with afternoon sun and grows best when planted in sand, loam, clay or silt soil that is well drained or moderately drained. In the spring African Butterfly Iris produces yellow and white flowers. The foliage is medium green in color. It attracts butterflies and is resistant to drought, insects, diseases and heat.

African Butterfly Iris can be useful in the landscape along woodland borders, in mass plantings, in containers or planters, as a border or edger, around decks, swimming pools, and other outdoor living areas, in landscape beds or islands or in small groupings and also in rock or xeriscape gardens, theme gardens, butterfly gardens or perennial gardens.
