More about Enduring Summer Red Crape Myrtle

Noteworthy Characteristics

Enduring Summer Red is the first dwarf crape myrtle we've encountered that produces TRUE RED flowers! What's more, the large clusters of bright, true scarlet-red flowers appear summer through fall on this repeat bloomer! There is no pink in the flowers...just a scarlet red very similar to that of the famous 'Dynamite' crape myrtle tree. But instead of growing 15 feet or more in height, Enduring Summer Red is a dwarf that grows to only 4-5' tall with an equal width.

Uses

Its smaller size makes Enduring Summer Red Crape Myrtle perfect for smaller garden spaces where a standard size crape myrtle won't fit. Perfect for use as a specimen or in groupings in sunny landscape beds, flowering shrub borders, home foundation plantings, or as  natural colorful hedge. Also works well in medium size pots.

Culture & Care Tips

Plant in full to mostly sun in well-drained, moist to somewhat moist soil. Water enough during the first growing season to keep soil moist but not constantly soggy or wet. Good drought tolerance when established. Does not require pruning however can be "limbed up" to form a small tree. Feed in spring with a shrub & tree type fertilizer.
