More About Dropmore Scarlet Honeysuckle...

Noteworthy Characteristics

“Dropmore Scarlet” honeysuckle (Lonicera x brownii “Dropmore Scarlet”), a type of trumpet honeysuckle, is a heavy bloomer producing clusters of bright orange-red fragrant flowers druing summer that hummingbirds love. Though the flowers are as fragrant as some other honeysuckles, what they lack in fragrance they make up for in color!

Uses

Dropmore Scarlet Honeysuckle is perfect for use on trellises, posts, poles, fences, mailboxes, arches, arbors and just about any other structure it can climb on. Excellent for producing shade and color on arbors overhead. Particularly nice to spill over retaining walls. If left to sprawl, it will behave a lot like groundcover on slopes and embankments.

Cultural & Care Tips

Very easy to grow, Dropmore Scarlet Honeysuckle prefers full to mostly sun and well-drained soil to prevent root rot. The vines grow to 8 to 12 feet long requiring very minimal if any pruning; just enough to keep it to the shape and form you desire.

Well packaged; no damaged or yellow leaves. Flowered about two weeks after it arrived. As it was recently received I can not say if it is the hummingbird magnet that I hope it will be!
