Moonbay Nandina
Nandina domestica 'Moonbay'
Moonbay Nandina is a compact, dense, dwarf version of Bamboo
Nandina that grows to about 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide. The shrub is
bamboo-like in appearance with upright cane-like stems and
finely-textured evergreen foliage that turns to a firey orange-red
during winter. No berries are produced on this variety. Low maintenance and easy to grow. Nandinas do not like wet feet!
Best color in full to mostly sun, however tolerates a good deal of
shade.
Moonbay Nandina is useful as a low hedge, colorful accent plant, or to screen low air
conditioning units or to accentuate entryways in foundation plantings. When planted in small to large groups in landscape beds, Gulf Stream provides very nice texture and color.

Instructions for care of Nandina
Feeding
Fertilize Summer-flowering shrubs in Spring (after new growth has begun
to emerge), and again, if needed, in late Summer to early Fall with a
well-balanced tree and shrub food or an organic plant food. When in
dought as to how much fertilizer to apply, follow instructions on the
product label.
Pruning
This is a low-maintenance plant that requires little or no pruning! An
occasional snip here or there of a stray or broken branch, or shearing
faded flowers to encourage more blooming is okay.
Pests
This plant typically encounters very few pest or disease problems. If a
pest or disease problem is identified, treat with an insecticide
product, preferably one containing "Neem oil". Neem oil is a safe,
triple-action product that can be used to control insects, mites and
diseases. If your plant appears seriously stressed or diseased, consult
with your local nurseryman, arborist, professional landscaper or local
extension agent.
