Carissa Holly
Ilex cornuta 'Carissa'

Carissa Holly is one of, if not the best evergreen shrubs for use as a foundation plant. We've seen this plant survive 10 below zero and sail through the longest summer droughts. Carissa holly is exceptionally low maintenance when spaced properly; never requires pruning and has no insect, pest or disease problems. Forms a very dense shrub to 4 to 5 feet in height with a 5 to 6 foot spread. The dark green, shiny leaves are oval in shape with one point at the end. Carissa holly is useful as a staggered or straight hedge in foundation plantings or landscape borders. Thrives in full sun to mostly shade and well-drained moist or dry soils.
