Pony Tails Grass - Mexican feather Grass
Stipa tenuissima

Pony Tails Grass, also known as "Mexican Feather Grass," is a very attractive Texas native that forms fine textured clumps about 18 inches or so tall and wide wide. Wispy, fall seed heads start out buff color then change to golden-bronze. Prefers full to mostly sun, though will tolerate afternoon shade. It is very drought tolerant and must have well-drained soil. This is one tough plant!

Pony Tails Grass provides a unique texture in the landscape. It can be planted in small to large groups, in mass on dry slopes, as a border, or as a stand alone specimen in landscape beds and gardens.
