Description Instructions/Care

Natchez Crape Myrtle
Lagerstroemia indica 'Dynamite'

Natchez is one of the tallest crape myrtle trees; topping out at 20 to 30 feet in height with a broad, naturally semi-weeping canopy of 15-20 feet in width. For up to 100 days during summer, Natchez produces an abundance of very large, white flower clusters.

But the color doesn't stop when the long blooming season has ended. In fall, the foliage turns to a mix of reds and orange. But the color show doesn't even stop there. Year round, as the tree matures, Natchez displays very attractive cinnamon colored trunks from underneath it's shedding bark.

Crape Myrtle is not picky about soil type provided the soil is well-drained. Full sun is preferred and results in heavier flower production. Light shade is tolerated but with diminished blooming. Natchez is a Fauriei Hybrid that is exceptionally resistant to powdery mildew.

Natchez can be used as a stand alone specimen, in groupings, or in rows in landscape beds, medians, or foundation plantings. Can also be useful for espalier against are tall, open wall.
