Mondo Grass
Ophiopogon japonicus

Mondo Grass is an evergreen perennial with thin, very dark green, grass-like foliage. Lilac flowers are inconspicuous but followed by glove-shaped blue berries. Outstanding as a lush border or pathway edging, in mass plantings, under large trees where not much else will grow, and as a grassy accent in container plantings. A tough, easy to grow plant in well-drained soils. Prefers afternoon shade to full shade. In the South, definitely provide shade because dark green leaf color may fade to light green in too much sun. Essentially maintenance free.
