Autumn Twist Encore Azalea
Rhododendron Hybrid - Azalea  'Conlep'

Perhaps the most unique of the Encore Azalea family, Autumn Twist produces an abundance of large, eye-catching white and purple striped blooms in spring, summer, and fall against dark green foliage. Some blooms may be all purple or all white which provides a multi-color effect. Autumn Twist is one of the larger growing Encore Azaleas to 4.5 feet tall with an equal spread. It is useful in foundation plantings, in small or large groupings in landscape beds or singularly in containers. Performs particularly well under tall pine trees. As with most azaleas, this one prefers acidic, well-drained moist soil, but does not like consistently wet feet. Will tolerate full sun, however prefers some afternoon shade. Attracts butterflies.

Excited to see its blooms! May 13, 2012

What a beautiful possibility with this 'new' color!  It arrived in great shape and is growing happily.  I'm hoping  it will survive our Zone-5-turned-6A winter.
